The future of Syria following a rapid and sudden regime change is uncertain. There is a complex mix of rebuilding efforts, political restructuring, and dealing with the deep division of society that needs to be tackled. While the fall of Assad's regime could open the door for more inclusive governance, it also presents significant challenges in terms of reconciliation, security, and managing competing local and international interests. The development of Syria post-Assad requires careful balancing to foster stability and long-term peace in a nation deeply scarred by years of conflict.
In this context, Sarah Bassisseh, a Ph.D. student of our institute, will give general and personal insights on the current events in Syria and how the overthrow was perceived here in Germany and in Syria. The insights will take place on Thursday 30. January, at 8 pm in room 124 at the Institute for Political Science.
This week's meeting and the discussion afterwards will be held in English.
After the discussion, we will, as usual, head to the Irish pub.
We are excited to welcome both new and familiar faces on Thursday!
